My name is Victor Magdic, and I am a photographer and visual artist based in Toronto, Canada. I have a long-standing interest in photography, and while my subject interests have changed over the years, a common theme has underpinned my work – a focus on seeing the beauty and abstract in things that go unnoticed in the everyday world around us.
When people experience my art, I encourage them to pause and become consciously present in the moment. To awaken to the beauty, simplicity and geometries that are found in structures that we pass-by everyday in a large city, but often don’t really “see.” I call these “urban abstracts”.
I select appropriate photographic tools, techniques and materials to evoke an expressive outcome. I especially enjoy working with harsh daylight and shadows that bring out geometric patterns and elements of design, such as lines, shapes, directions, and textures.
